Skin needling is a procedure that involves puncturing the skin multiple times with fine needles to induce new collagen production and improve skin texture.

The needles cause thousands of microscopic ‘controlled injuries’ to the deeper layers of the skin (the dermis) without tearing the skin. This induces the skin to begin a process of wound healing that is followed by the production of new collagen and elastin. The production of new collagen continues for up to 12 months after the procedure. Depressed acne scars, wrinkles, skin texture and skin tightness all continue to improve over this period. The method used is a digital machine with micro-needles that is moved over the skin. This method is faster and more effective than previous methods of skin needling using individual needles without continuous control of depth of placement.

There may be some discomfort associated with the procedure, but it is well tolerated by most individuals with local or topical anaesthetic.

After skin needling, it is possible to add various creams and serums to further enhance collagen production, RegimA Scar repair 20ml is included in package prices for aftercare.
In between treatments proper Skincare with cleanser, day and night cream must be used to ensure properly hydrated and protected skin.
Initially the skin will appear red immediately following treatment. It will appear like severe sunburn.
The reddened area will then darken as healing continues. This will appear like a light graze and may be covered with make-up 48 hours after treatment
Healing is usually complete after 7 days.

Are prone to keloid (thickened abnormal) scarring

Generally, you will experience some redness and light grazing of the skin from 3 days to one week after the procedure.
Mild swelling that can persist for a few days.
There may be some weeping of the skin for the first 24 hours. Laser Gel / Vaseline can be applied.
If you are prone to cold sores, the healing area may become infected if you have a cold sore breakout during this period.
Bacterial infection is possible but very rare.
As the skin is not torn, scarring is extremely rare.
Some people develop milia (small white dots) on the skin as it heals.
Acne-breakouts may occur after treatment.

How many treatments are needed?

The number of treatments will depend on the individual collagen response. Generally speaking, you may need 3 to 6 treatments. Treatments are done 4 weeks apart

When should I see results?

Results are evident after a few weeks. The skin texture will continue to improve over a 12 month period.
